Christmas Gift Idea: DIY Art Project

I'm pretty sure you have that one family member that claims they want "heartfelt and sentimental" gifts for Christmas & birthdays.. well, here is a 2-for-1 special. This DIY project is for all the art freaks (such as myself) and for sentiment-seeking gift receivers! :)

Supplies

  • Canvass
  • Black paper/poster
  • Crayons
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Glue (hot or liquid)
  • Surface covering (for easy clean-up)
Steps

  1. Print out or draw a silhouette image(s) on the black paper/poster
  2. Cut out the image(s) and place on canvass
  3. Once happy with placement, glue down on canvass with hot glue or liquid glue
  4. Unwrap and arrange all crayons you intend to use (hint: use ROYGBIV as a guide to avoid mucky colors coming out)
  5. Squeeze out the rest of the hot glue in glue gun and insert first crayon. Make sure to hold the hot glue gun downwards to decrease the mess (that will be made lol) and close to top of canvass to create the downward drops/splatters
  6. Insert remaining crayons in order of your choosing (hint: push in the crayons until the desired color comes out, it might take a few seconds so don't move too quickly)
  7. Store artwork in a touch-free zone to prevent chipping of crayon splatters

Final Look :)
